The Passing Lane Defined
The name seems too appropriate. MTV and Clearchannel would eat it up – so it baffles me how the record labels still haven’t slapped "The Passing Lane" onto an uprising teenage emo rock band. Nevertheless, it has greater meaning to me.
In a few words or less, The Passing Lane, is everything you want and don’t want to be. It’s the basis of your life and surrounds you in everything you do. In The Passing Lane you take risks. It’s an open battle field where the outcome is unknown. You may move ahead only to find yourself two steps back. The encounter may be rewarding or a life learning experience. It’s the decisions you make, paths you choose, outcomes you embrace or shun. When you accepted responsibility and called to apologize for your actions, you chose The Passing Lane. The Passing Lane is fast paced; scary yet satisfying. When you interviewed for a top position and received the job offer, you chose The Passing Lane. The Passing Lane is where you live on the edge. The Passing Lane is where you’re focused on your destination. The Passing Lane will get you there faster.
Next time you’re in The Passing Lane, think about what you are doing, where you are going, and how you’re going to get there. Chances are it will be a much rewarded experience. And if not, you’re the person everyone hates for going 65 MPH in the left lane.
Embrace it. Feel it. Use it. The Passing Lane.
